Rates

If work protected by copyright is copied, authors and publishers must receive a remuneration for this. In preparation of the law on reprography, the potential cost was calculated by both right holders and employer organisations. In accordance with the Belgian custom to seek a compromise, the Belgian government situated the losses somewhere between these two calculations. On this basis, the government established the rates. In the meantime, the government has decided that the rates should be adjusted to the economic index each year. Each year an overview of the new rates per sector (public authorities, private and education) is published in the Belgian Official Gazette. Reprobel also displays the rates on its website, so that everyone is notified immediately.
